Newport Beach Police will raise money for Special Olympics Souther California from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 24 in a Tip-A-Cop event at Yard House restaurant in Fashion Island.
Police officers and Special Olympics athletes will work as servers and hosts at the restaurant, with tips and donations going to the Special Olympics. Last year, which was the department’s first year to participate in the program, offices raised more than $6,000, said police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.
Participating officers will be off-duty, police said.
Yard House also will donate a $25 gift card for use on a future visit to anyone who donates $25 or more during the event, according to a police flier.
The Newport Beach Police Department support the Special Olympics throughout the year, including participating in a torch run event in the spring; click here to read more.
