October 16th, 2012
Absolutely festive season is on, shopping and fun has began already..
The holiday season is just around the corner. Disney characters will be at Fashion Island to light the Christmas tree there in less than a month. The Irvine Spectrum Center ice rink is days away from opening. And in keeping with the spirit of family fun that the holiday season brings, Irvine Company Retail Properties is offering a Family Fun Fest sweepstakes with a prize package that includes everything from Disneyland passes to a $500 shopping spree.
To enter, you can click on the ad on the Corona del Mar Today homepage (or click here) and enter your name and other information. You may only enter once, and you must be at least 18 years old.
The prize package includes four Disneyland 1-Day Park Hopper tickets with a $300 Disney gift card; a $500 Shopping Spree in the form of Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum Center and The Market Place gift cards valid wherever American Express is accepted; 10 VIP passes to the Irvine Spectrum Center’s ice rink, including skate rental fees; and dinner for four at Paul Martin’s American Grill. The winners will be selected during a random drawing held in Irvine scheduled for Jan. 13, 2013. The deadline to enter is Dec. 31.
The prizes showcase a few of the Irvine Company’s holiday events, such as the annual Fashion Island Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 13 and 14.
“Disney puts together a full, custom show with Mickey, Minnie and other characters,” said Stacie Ellis, senior director of marketing of Irvine Company Retail Properties. “It’s the only Southern California tree lighting with Disney characters appearing outside the park.”
Santa’s custom-designed house will open immediately following the Nov. 13 ceremony for childen to meet Santa and take photos, she said. The house will be open on the Atrium Lawn through Dec. 24; call Fashion Island Guest Services at (949) 721-2000 for specific hours.
The ice rink at the Irvine Spectrum Center is under construction and will officially open Nov. 1 (although sometimes it opens sooner,) she said. The ice rink will be in Giant Wheel Court and will be open until Feb. 18, 2013. Skate sessions are 75 minutes and cost $14 plus $3 skate rental fees. Season passes, lessons and private parties also are available. For specific information, including schedules, call (949) 748-8280 or visit the SkateSpectrum website.
At Fashion Island, more than 40 new stores have opened in the last year and a half, Ellis said. The new, relocated Apple Store is the largest in Orange County, and Whole Foods recently opened, as well as a C. Wonder boutique. The shopping center also offers family-friendly shops including Casey’s Cupcakes, and concierge staff are on hand to help with everything from planning birthday parties to making sure you have a dinner reservation after the Tree Lighting ceremony.
“The sweepstakes is about letting our customers know what our shopping centers have to offer,” Ellis said. “We cater to our customers. We embrace families. And it’s crazy — it hardly feels like fall — but the holidays are just around the corner!”
