Newport Lightning Basketball Club Wins Big

The Newport Lightning Basketball Club completed a stellar weekend of play at the inaugural TH Hoops “Beach Classic” Tournament by winning the championship in both the 14u (8th Grade) and 11u (5th Grade) divisions. The 12u (6th grade ) team also took 2nd place in the tournament. All four NLBC teams combined to go 13-3 on the weekend.
The NLBC 11u team, coached by Scott Stucki, beat SGV, Monrovia Mountaineers and TH Hoops twice to capture the title on Sunday. Luke Bashore, Nic Ayala, John Humphreys, Jack Kalatschan, Jack McKenna, Luke Hatfield, Haig Mavusi, Tommy Griffin, Jaden Glenn and Shane Premer all played well in the four wins.
The NLBC 14u Black team, coached by Mike Flamson, beat Mountaineers Red, TH Hoops, SGV and Mountaineers Black to take home the title. Jake Pearson, Will Rodosky, Fritz Miller, Jacob Jones, Mitch Haly, Brendan Cormie, David Atencio, Jordan Alvarado, Bryson Betti and Ben Coffman all played key roles in the four wins.
