NBFD to Host Two Community Events in October

The Newport Beach Fire Department has two community events planned for October, including a wildland fire safety program scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the OASIS Senior Center.

The “Ready, Set, Go” presentation will focus on discuss wildland fire safety preparedness and include information on making your home safer with improvements, brush clearing and information on what to do in case of an emergency evacuation, according to the city’s website. The presentation will end at 8 p.m.

The OASIS center is located at Fifth and Marguerite avenues.

On Saturday, the Santa Ana Heights Fire Station will host an Open House to kick off Fire Prevention Week. The station will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There also will be activities, displays and demonstrations on fire prevention and safety awareness.

“This year’s theme is ‘Have 2 Ways Out’ which is a reminder of the importance of ensuring you always have a least two ways out of any room or building in case of a fire or emergency,” according to a city email. The Santa Ana Heights Fire Station is located at 20401 Acacia Street.
