Newport-Mesa District Wants to Social Network With You

Facebook and Twitter now can help you keep up with your kids’ school news, said a Newport Mesa Unified School District official on Monday.
The district already uses a School Loop online service that communicates everything from field trips to homework with district families, as well as an email service that parents can sign up for to get general district news. And last year, the district upgraded all school websites. But the district continues to explore social networking opportunities.
“Adding Facebook and Twitter is just another vehicle for us to reach a broader audience to not only push information out to our community but also to provide for avenues of feedback,” said Laura Boss, district spokeswoman. “One of our ongoing goals is to increase our levels of communication.”
