Taste of Newport Begins Friday; City Issues Parking, Traffic Information

The annual Taste of Newport event opens at 6 p.m. Friday and runs through Sunday near Fashion Island, with live music, food and drinks from local restaurants, and police have issued a statement about parking and traffic restrictions connected to the event.
Several roads in the Fashion Island area will be closed from about 6 a.m. Friday through late Sunday, according to a police advisory. The roads include Newport Center Drive between Santa Rosa and San Miguel drives, and San Nicholas Drive between Newport Center Drive and Avocado Avenue.
Taste of Newport visitors should not park in Fashion Island’s main lots but rather use parking structures or valet. Free self parking will be available inside two parking structures at Santa Rosa and Newport Center drives, and signs inside the structures will lead you to the event entrance on Santa Rosa Drive. There also will be valet parking near the Santa Rosa Drive entrance.
Taste of Newport will run from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. General admission costs $25 per person at the door, and food bites cost from $1 to $7. For full details, visit the event’s website or call (949) 729-4400.
