Newport Lightning Basketball Club 9u Team Finishes Summer Strong

The NLBC 9u boys team finished a stellar summer season winning three club basketball tournaments and going 11-1. The Lightning boys won the Big City Sports Summer Hoopfest, the Swoosh Summer Series and the South Coast OC Slam tournaments. The team also placed second in the Swoosh Summer Madness tournament.
The boys played excellent team basketball with timely passing and stifling defense each tournament. A balanced scoring attack led by Adam Garza, Tyler Li, Levi Darrow and Troy Olson continued to baffle opposing defenses. Zach Fujii led the team in assists all summer and also contributed big in the scoring column, while Jack Johnston, Garza and Chris Dolack manned the paint with great defense and rebounding. Ben Lawson and Sam Thayer provided big minutes all summer with key scoring and stout defense.
The 9u team is coached by Scott Stucki.
