Police Investigate Report of Argument, Shots Fired in Shore Cliffs

Newport Beach police received a report of an argument and possibly ten shots fired near Driftwood and Evening Canyon roads early Monday morning, but police were unable to locate anyone involved in the incident.

The incident occurred just after midnight when someone heard a man arguing with someone, then heard what sounded like ten shots, then more arguing, said Kathy Lowe, a Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman, in an email.

“Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the source of the ’shots’ or the male who was yelling,” her email said. “Officers checked Driftwood in the early afternoon on Monday and contacted residents to see if anyone had heard or seen anything suspicious. One neighbor told the officer he heard a male yelling but could not provide any further information.”
