The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation has extended the deadline for a teen creative writing contest to Monday Sept. 3, organizers said in a news release.
The original deadline was Sept. 1.
Library Lit ‘12 is open to all high school students who have a Newport Beach library card. Stories must be set in a library or feature a library-themed element, organizers said, and may be up to 2,500 words.
The first place winner will receive $250, and the winning manuscript will be published online and in The Bookmark, the Foundation’s quarterly publication. Contest rules also state that manuscripts must include a cover page listing the author’s name, address, phone number, e-mail address, word count, and manuscript title. Names should not appear anywhere else. A title page with no biographical information should follow. Pages must be numbered. Stories should be in MS Word format and emailed to tkeys @ newportbeachca dot gov.
Rules limit entries to one per person.
