Crystal Cove to Host Wednesday Events

The Crystal Cove Alliance will host a Great Plein Air Art Experience event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Participants will spend the day with instructor Alan Nowell, experiencing painting in the open air, according to the Crystal Cove Alliance website. The classes are limited to 12, and registration is required; click here for more information. The class costs $75 for adults 16 years and older and $60 for Crystal Cove Alliance members. All materials will be provided. The class will meet in the Crystal Cove Alliance headquarters in Cottage 5. Participants should bring lunch, a drink, sunscreen, a long sleeve shirt, hat and a stool or chair.

An Open House also will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Education Commons in the Historic District in the park. The Open House will include historic radio shows, games from the 1920s to 1940s, crafts using sea glass from the park, art demonstrations, scavenger hunts, nature-themed puppet shows, science experiments and more. The Open House event is free, but there is a $15 day-use parking fee in the park.
