Newport Beach police took a report of a commercial burglary at 6:31 a.m. in the 2900 block of East Coast Highway, according to online logs. Police Department spokeswoman Kathy Lowe said that someone threw something through the front door of the Corona del Mar Animal Hospital, then entered the building and stole $7,000 worth of flea control products.
According to a police report, the incident occurred between 10:40 p.m. Monday and 6:15 a.m. Tuesday and resulted in a loss of $9,240 and $200 in damage.
In other police news, officers took a report of a petty theft at Jasmine Avenue and Ocean Boulevard at 10:26 a.m. Monday. The theft, with a loss of $18, occurred between 6 and 6:02 p.m. Sunday, according to a report.
Police arrested a 33-year-old Reedley, Calif. man at 4:09 p.m. Monday at Bayside Drive and Carnation Avenue on suspicion of DUI; his bail was $2,500. Police also arrested an 18-year-old Fountain Valley woman at 7 p.m. Monday at 857 Newport Center Drive on suspicion of burglary. Her bail was $20,000, according to a report.
