CdM Today’s Reader Comment of the Week

Our reader comment of the week this week came from Debby, writing in response to a police story about a car fire and elevator entrapments.

Debby wrote, “As far as the car crash goes, wanted Julie to know that there was serious head injuries to the driver, my brother. He is , and will be for a long time, in the head Trauma center with several surgeries to come. Debby.”

Traffic collisions with injuries often are difficult stories to report completely. Police do not release many details right away, and fire officials are required by HIPAA rules to protect patient privacy. In this story, the patient’s injuries were not described, and some readers may have made assumptions because of a lack of information.

We emailed Debby to explain this, and a pleasant exchange followed. We always appreciate readers who have information and details that can shed light on a story or situation, or cab clarify and improve an article, to comment or email. We also wish nothing but the best for Debby’s brother and his recovery.
