Construction at Corona del Mar High School will continue into the fall, a district official confirmed.

Projects include a reconfiguration of the school’s pool parking lot, along with a new bus turnout, which should be complete in late August, said Jim Lamond, director of facilities development, planning and design for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, in an email.

Work on the school’s weight room also is moving forward and should be complete in early September, he said.

“The Middle School Enclave project has been put out to bid and the bids have been received,” he said. “Work on the Enclave should begin in late August.”

The new theater project remains under review by the Department of State Architects’ office, he said.

“We’re hoping (fingers crossed!) that DSA approves the plans by mid-October,” his email said.

Ridiculous - just why does it take so long for another State Agency to approve a design? What a waste of time and money for our kids - more State bureaucracy just getting in the way. Why can't the school (and parents) penalize the State for being late, just like the State penalizes it's contractors?
