For the second year, Corona del Mar High School students will be able to preregister online — a step that reduced wait times last year after complaints about an earlier system.
“It’s almost time for school to start!” a recent email blast to families said. “The first step for you leading into the school year is for you to complete your online registration.”
Registration letters were mailed in late July to about 2,400 students. The letters included login identification numbers to allow families to preregister online beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Families must print the preregistration forms and bring them to the school for registration, which will be done by classes, broken down by birth month, on Aug. 21, 22 and 23. Makeup registration for all grades will take place Friday Aug. 24.
Anyone with questions can call the school at (949) 515-6000.
The online preregistration was implemented in 2011 after complaints about the previous year, when some families waited in line for as long as four hours; read our stories here and here.
Part of the problem in 2010 was a bottleneck for cashiers at the end of the registration process, when only two cashiers were on hand to process payments for yearbooks, ASB fees, p.e. clothes and more. The online preregistration step allows families to make those purchases and pay in advance and bring their receipts on registration day.
The first day of school is Sept. 4, and Back to School Night will take place Thursday Sept. 20.
