Happy birthday to Ruby's. The place was originally Snack Shop number 1. Begun in 1947 by John and Audry MacIntosh.

In honor of Ruby Cavanaugh’s 90 birthday today, Ruby’s Diner in Corona del Mar will offer retro-priced 90 cent shakes and specials for guests 90 years and older, according to a company statement.
Ruby’s Diner will offer double vanilla, Hershey’s chocolate and strawberry shakes at the 90 cents price with a purchase of food, the statement said. Also, guests who are 90 years or older with receive a complimentary entree.
The event also honors Ruby’s Diner’s 30th anniversary. The deal is not valid at the Shake Shack or on the Balboa Pier diner.
Doug Cavanaugh founded Ruby’s Diner in 1982, naming the retro-themed restaurants after his mom. The Corona del Mar store is located at 2305 East Coast Highway.
