CdM Today’s Reader Comment of the Week

Our reader comment of the week this week came from OTGrouch, responding to our story about a rescue when a boy was stuck on a rock off Cameo Shores.

OTGrouch wrote, “That sounds more like ladder rock than arch rock. Arch is betwen little Corona and third beach. Ladder is farther east by Cameo. I fell off ladder rock once when a handhold broke off in my hand ,wisely i landed in a tidepool about the size of a bathtub, no hurt, no foul.”

When this comment was posted, we sent a copy to the Newport Beach Fire Department spokeswoman, who sent the original release. She quickly responded that Grouch was correct. Then she emailed all the other media to correct the information that was earlier released.

Because of OTGrouch, the mistake was quickly corrected and people were able to get timely accurate information. So thank you! And everyone else — let us know when we have mistakes and errors. Whether they are from our sources or our own typos, we are always ready to correct anything that’s wrong.

Also, I heard that this rescue and a discussion of the rock was something talked about over dinner by City Council members during Tuesday’s meeting — interesting to get a glimpse of what the Council is thinking about outside the public eye…
