A Memorial Day ceremony at Pacific View Memorial Park will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the cemetery at 3500 Pacific View Drive.
The ceremony, co-presented by the American Legion Newport Harbor Post 291, will include music, flags and moving tributes to those who died serving their country. Organizers suggest arriving early to find parking, and that seating is limited so you might want to bring a blanket or chairs. Hot dogs and refreshments will be served after the ceremony. I just rode my bike through the park and saw nice people preparing for the event. The park has excellent views of Newport and Catalina and the grounds are nicely maintained. It is a clean and peaceful place.
