From the Police Log: $19,000 Loss in Poinsettia Burglary

A burglar used a ladder belonging to a homeowner to get onto a second floor balcony, then went through an unlocked window and sole $19,000 worth of property from a home in the 200 block of Poinsettia Avenue, according to police.

The burglary occurred between 8:30 a.m. May 8 and 6 p.m. May 11 and was reported at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report.

The lost items included a ring, a watch, compass, laptop, guitar and cash, said Kathy Lowe, a Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman.
