The Newport Center United Methodist Church is hosting a blood and marrow drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, featuring chamber music from Pacific Symphony musicians who will perform while you donate.

Advance appointments are required to donate blood; click here and then click on “Give Blood” and enter the sponsor code “ncumc.”

No appointments are necessary for the Be the Match bone marrow drive. Be the Match is a registry of potential bone marrow donors. To be added to the list, you need to answer basic health questions, give a swab sample of your cheek and sign a consent form — and if you’re a match, you could save the life of someone with a blood cancer who needs a transplant.

The church is located at 1601 Marguerite Ave.

Donors will receive free tickets to a summer Pacific Symphony concert at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.
