Once again, a rash, rush to judgement by the city council. At least Leslie Daigle had the smarts to say it needed more investigation. This is TAXPAYER MONEY TO BENEFIT PRIVATE BUSINESS promoted by the business improvement special interest group. How many members of the BID will benefit from adding reastaurant seats? 6 to 1 vote with essentially NO public outreach looks pretty pre-determined to me. When is this city going to stop wasting our tax dollars? Taking away a lane on PCH? The weekend traffic is going to back up to Jamboree Rd! Anybody ever heard of a traffic study? And NO plan to replace parking, driving more cars into the residential area - and more crime. The entire area there needs a new approach.

That plan needs a lot more study...I dont see the reason why few restaurants gain from these added seats but traffic will be worsen....I think they should add lanes rather subtracting them.!! I don't understand all these medians either cause instead of that space another bi-directional lane could' ve been established to help traffic in north or southbound during rush hours or even to help bike lanes throughout pch

"We're hopeful and we're confident it will flow pretty well," said Newport Beach Deputy Public Works Director Dave Webb." Isn't he paid to be a little more than "hopeful and confident it will flow PRETTY well"? How about a study...not a lane closure, but a real study as suggested by Robert Hawkins? What's to lose? This city seems to think it's alright to pay for a "consultant" to hire another "consultant" (friend) to give their opinions on the tax payer dime. Come on people, this lane closure is NOT WANTED by the residents and will cause nightmare traffic jams at an important intersection.
