Flag Football Program, Participants Honored

The Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission this week honored Harbor Day School students whose youth flag football teams won the Orange County Flag Football championships.
The players were given certificates and shook hands with Phillip Lugar, the commission’s chairman, at the meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall.
“Both the ‘C’ Division (3rd-4th grade) and ‘B’ Division (5th-6th grade) teams had outstanding seasons, winning both the Newport Beach Recreation and Orange County Championships, in which over 50 teams involving four different cities competed,” said Laura Detweiler, Newport Beach recreation and senior services director.
The City of Newport Beach Recreation and Senior Services Department organizes the Youth Flag Football League.
