A two-vehicle crash this morning damaged a sign in front of the Hobie Surf Shop at 3140 East Coast Highway.
Police received a report of an injury accident about 8:10 a.m., said Kathy Lowe, a Newport Beach police spokeswoman. The crash involved a two-door Scion and a Mini Cooper, she said. Paramedics did respond, but logs do not indicate whether victims were transported to hospitals.
Hobie employees said when they arrived at work shortly after the crash occurred, they thought at first the cars had crashed into the building. Later they realized they had not, but a sign with a Hurley logo in front of the store was damaged.
Crews were cleaning the scene an hour after the crash occurred.
