Recently I was a pedestrian in a similar situation along Coast Highway in CDM, except the driver pulled into his right turn without looking. Meanwhile, I had stepped into the intersection and he missed hitting me by an inch. I hadn't expected him to turn because of the heavy flow of traffic opposing him, but he must have thought he had enough of an opening. It didn't occur to me to hit his car, so I was surprised when another man at the curb not only hit his car but also shouted at him. A sort of pedestrian rage. I think our intersections in CDM leave a lot to be desired for the safety of pedestrians. The traffic on PCH is moving too fast. It reminded me of when I lived in NYC and often saw pedestrians kick cars in intersections. I hope it doesn't come to that here.

Hmmm... Same man? I always wait when I am walking because I know how hard it is to see. We all need a break once in a while.

Yes a good idea to look both ways .I do so because i live in CdM and i run in the flower st. s Many drivers only look one way when turning ! Please look for walkers and runners and lots of strollers too!

IT would be safest to go behind the car that is waiting to make the right turn.

I agree with Wabbit. It's more prudent to cross behind a car who is trying to find an opening. Goodness knows we've all been there. Car vs person? The car will always win. Having the right of way doesn't give a human an instant forcefield.
