Corona del Mar could see thunderstorms tonight and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

“An upper level low off the coast will combine with some subtropical moisture today to bring isolated to scattered high based thunderstorms across the region,” according to a Hazardous Weather Outlook posted on the weather service website. The storms could bring gusty winds, dry lightning and hail.

“Remnant moisture” from Hurricane Hilary could bring isolated thunderstorms overnight, the website states.

South-facing beaches could see above normal surf and dangerous rip currents.

“The threat of showers and thunderstorms will continue through Saturday evening,” the website says.

For parents of soccer players, remember to call the city’s Mudline to check if fields are closed in case of rain. That number is (949) 644-3211, ext. 1758.
