1. Pack a picnic, grab some lawn chairs and head to Bonita Canyon Sports Park for a free concert beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday. The 90-minute concert will feature Gregg Young 2nd Street Band playing a variety of musical styles including jazz, blues, R&B, reggae, rock and Latin. The concert his hosted by the Newport Beach City Arts Commission; for more information call (949) 644-3211.
2. The Newport Aquatic Center will host a fundraiser/open house to support its junior outrigger team from 1 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. The center suggests a $25 donation and will offer instruction on standup paddle boards, outrigger canoes and kayaks as well as tacos. The NAC is located at 1 White Cliffs Drive in Newport Beach.
3. Crystal Cove will host a guided nature walk at 9 a.m. Saturday; meet at the El Moro Visitor Center. The walk is free, but there is a $15 day-use parking fee.
4. Recycled Rags is holding its monthly parking lot sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 2731 East Coast Highway. In addition to all the merchandise inside the store, racks will be set up in the parking lot with prices cut as much as 40 percent. Lemonade, coffee and hot dogs will be available. 5. Roger’s Gardens will feature a lecture at 9 a.m. Saturday called “Shady Cottage Gardens with Cristin Fusano,” which will teach about shady woodland plants “that flower and sparkle in low light gardens.” Roger’s Gardens is located at 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road.
