Newport Beach police made three drug-related arrests late Sunday at Ocean Boulevard and Jasmine Avenue, records show. A car thief entered an open garage in Irvine Terrace sometime overnight Tuesday, ransacking one car and then stealing a 2009 Chevy Malibu, Newport Beach police records show. Police said the loss was $27,600.

Corona del Mar Middle School has won a Front Runner Award in the 2009 Governor’s Challenge Competition and will be recognized today at 11:45 in a ceremony at the school’s gym.

A miniature pinscher worth $995 was stolen and then returned to a Fashion Island pet shop, police said.

Stella’s Cafe at 2756 East Coast Highway has closed with signs announcing it is undergoing remodeling.
The restaurant’s answering machine was not taking messages on Tuesday morning. Corona del Mar Today will continue to try to contact the owners and find out when they plan to reopen.
