1. Corona del Mar’s Union Jack band will perform at The Quiet Woman on Sunday, with 25 percent of proceeds benefitting music programs at Corona del Mar High School. Karl Donovan, Roman Hays, Blake Munger, Jake Reines and George Wells will play songs by Aerosmith, Coldplay, Alice Cooper, The Rolling Stones and more between 6 and 7 p.m. The band members all are Harbor View Elementary alums and have played many local venues, including Harbor View’s Open House, the Laguna Beach Art Walk in September to raise awareness for the Innocence Mission and at the VA Hospital.. 2. If your dreams include sailing away on a really big boat, the Newport Boat Show this weekend could fuel your fantasy. The show is open until 7 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and costs $12 with children 12 years old and younger free. 3. Roger’s Gardens is hosting a “Cooking with Chef Mila” demonstration and book signing event at 9 a.m. Saturday. “Join Chef Mila Payne as she prepares recipes from her brightly colored and artfully hand-painted cookbooks,” Roger’s website states. “Mila uses locally sourced ingredients and her delicious recipes are easy to prepare. 4. Get up early Sunday, grab some coffee and head to East Coast Highway or Ocean Boulevard to watch as thousands of runners dash through town for the OC Marathon. The start is near Fashion Island at 6 a.m.; for more information on road closures, parking restrictions and links to maps, click here.
5. There are yard sales, and there’s the Angels Yard Sale, where you can find authentic clubhouse chairs, stadium banners, game-used items and more. The Saturday sale opens to season seat holders at 9 a.m., and an hour later for the general public. The sale will take place at the Home Plate Gate.
