From the Police Log: Grand Theft At Hobie; CdM Cars Targeted

A grand theft at Corona del Mar’s Hobie Surf Shop resulted in a loss of $1,600, according to a police report.

The theft occurred at the shop at 3140 East Coast Highway sometime between 12:30 and 2 p.m. Wednesday. No other details were immediately available.

Police reports also list a theft from a vehicle in the 1400 block of Outrigger Drive and a vehicle burglary in the 4000 block of Topside Lane. The two incidents are less than a half-mile apart, but police did not immediately confirm if they could be connected.

The Outrigger Drive theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Tuesday with a loss of $425. The Topside Lane burglary occurred sometime between 6:10 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, and no loss was listed on the police report. Both crimes were reported on Wednesday.

Police also took a report of a grand theft in the 4500 block of Orrington Road in the Cameo Shores neighborhood. That theft occurred between 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday. The loss was $1,000, the report states.
