Newport Beach Police Department’s traffic division will conduct a DUI checkpoint from 9 p.m. Friday until about 3 a.m. Saturday, police announced today.
The checkpoint will take place northbound Dover Drive at 16th Street.
“The checkpoint will be clearly marked and vehicles will be selected to move through the check lanes on a pre-set basis to ensure objectivity and timeliness,” a news release states. “Motorists will be greeted and given an informational brochure” called “Driving Under The Influence.”
This and other DUI checkpoints are paid for with a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
