The Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission will consider adding a bench to Grant Howald Park in memory of Lilly Wilson at a meeting Tuesday evening.
Wilson died Oct. 23, 2010 of ovarian cancer, said her daughter, Lyn Maloney.
“She loved Corona del Mar,” Maloney said of her mother. “She owned a home on Ocean Boulevard and then owned a home on Jasmine. She was a member of the OASIS Senior Center. Her whole life was Corona del Mar.”
Wilson was a regular at Starbucks and at Ruby’s, where she was an investor, Maloney said. She loved Grant Howald Park and frequently walked through the park on her way to the OASIS Center.
If the commissioners approve the park bench, the park’s bench sites will be filled and no other bench donations will be considered, according to a staff report.
The Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission will meet at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall at 3300 Newport Blvd. The meeting is open to the public.
