The 37th Annual Corona del Mar Home Tour raised $178,627, PTA President Lynne Ramsey said this week. The tour’s expenses, as expected, were about $45,000.

In the end, the event netted about $13,000 more than organizers hoped.

“I give all the credit to our two co-chairs, Jane Owen and Marlene Tolfa, and their great and hard working committee of PTA moms and dads,” Ramsey said.

At its January meeting, PTA members agreed to use the funds to make one-time allocations to a variety of programs. The allocations include $10,000 to staff development, $2,000 to teacher grants, $9,000 to eighth grade year-end activities, $4,000 to the school’s Renaissance Program, $3,000 to senior scholarships and student assistance, $5,000 to conference room renovations, $9,000 for the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations, and $500 each to the vice principal’s character program and the Reflections program.

The eighth grade year-end activities usually are funded with profits from magazine sales, but this year those sales suffered when an elementary school conducted a similar fundraiser at the same time, PTA members said.
