Beginning tomorrow, Mondays at the Port Restaurant and Bar will be Community Nights, with 50 percent off everything, said owner Ali H. Zadeh.
“It’s important for the village to find out about us,” he said.
Zadeh, who is on the advisory board of the Corona del Mar Business Improvement District, told other board members about his plan at its monthly meeting last week. He said that if the idea catches on, he’d like to invite business owners from the village to stop by and promote their products and services and to urge other restaurants to offer discounts on Mondays to encourage a village-wide sense of community throughout the summer months.
“It’s a fabulous idea,” said Linda Leonard, president of the CdM Chamber of Commerce, who added that Laguna Beach had a regular locals’ night.
Zadeh said there could be a discount card for Corona del Mar residents that could be used in town for special offers, a project he is working on with the Corona del Mar Residents Association that could be part of a memberships drive. But for now, he said, The Port will get things kicked off with the half-price deals. The discount will apply to food and drinks but can’t be combined with any other promotions, he said.
The Port Restaurant and Bar is located at 440 Heliotrope Ave.
