How much are Newport residents paying for this activity? This has not been reported anywhere, would be good to know. The CdM & Newport Chambers should pay for the activity, not the City. The City's role for businesses is to provide infrastructure, public safety, and favorable structures for business licensing and operation. City is contributing by providing a location at Oasis. We should not be paying the fees. What results have been promised, is the OPIS Network contract results based? For example, is OPIS payment based in part on how much $ or what % increase in revenue from participating business and related sales tax payments? The State offers similar programs through Small Business Office, in Santa Ana.

I will ask these questions when the City Staff goes back to work in January. Thanks for the comment!

OPIS Network is not being paid by the city, and even though both chambers are supporters they are not paying anything either. The city is supplying the venue and covering lunch which is being sponsored and paid for by outside parties. This is the city's way to help their struggling business community and this event has been reported by OC Metro, the Orange County Business Council and also on the City of Newport Beach web site. This workshop series has been successful in the cities of Santa Ana, twice and Buena Park, and most businesses, if they commit to the 100 day program, are able to increase their business by 20% or more. This inaugural event is Day One of a 13 week program from any and all businesses in the city. It is free.
