From the Police Log: Injury Crash, Petty Theft Arrest

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and injured this afternoon in a parking structure at Fashion Island, police said.

The person was injured at 12:58 p.m. in the 600 block of Newport Center Drive when struck by someone driving a Mini Cooper, said Sgt. Steve Burdette of the Newport Beach Police Department.

Newport Beach Fire Department responded to the accident, and the victim was evaluated but not transported to a hospital, said Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Schulz.

No other details were available.

In other news, Mariners Church teacher was arrested and booked on suspicion of petty theft on Tuesday, police said. The woman, 56, of Newport Beach was arrested at 1:50 p.m. at 1660 San Miguel Drive. Her bail was set at $500.

Police also took a report of a vehicle burglary at 8:08 a.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Newport Center Drive, reports state. The burglary occurred between 7:10 and 7:55 a.m. Tuesday and resulted in a loss of $100 with $300 in damage.

Police today also said that a suspect in a murder in Missouri who was arrested this week in the Eastbluff neighborhood would be flying back to the Midwest “shortly.” Read our story about that arrest here.
