Moaning Workmen

I am having my house cleaned, some concrete pressure washed and my windows washed inside and out. This is long overdue. I have been barely able to see out my windows all summer, but remember how it kept drizzling? And I had this leak I had to get fixed.

But now it’s all getting done.

The workers are here, and they have been hard at it for three hours. I feel for them. It can’t be a fun job. If it was a fun job, guess what? I wouldn’t pay them to do it. My kids and I would do it, probably with my husband joining in.

Yet it is a hard job, something we don’t have the equipment to do, either, so while I’m working on stories and my kids are cleaning their rooms and so forth, we are having the cleaners here.

The problem? They are grunters. They are sighing. They are making it so clear that they are working hard. And I know they are!

I just wish they’d be silent about it, instead of making me feel guilty.
