Ah Ha! Extra Week of Summer, Boom!

My son will enter seventh grade next month at Corona del Mar Middle School. He’s excited, and I’m nervous. He doesn’t want to wake up earlier, and I don’t want to deal with a new set of traffic problems. But I’m sure we all will adjust.

Part of going into seventh grade is a one-day Seaweed Camp, which he will attend next Friday.

For some reason, I had it in my head that this camp, which is a pool-party/orientation for new kids, was the last Friday before school started. So in my head, next week was the last week of summer. I’d been trying to come up with last-ditch ideas for fun things to do so the summer would end with a bang. Not a wimper.

Then I looked at the calendar.

There are two weeks left of summer. Next week, and then the next week.

Maybe my confusion is Seaweed camp related. Maybe it’s because so many of my friends and family around the country have begun their school year already.

But I feel like I just scored a big, major gift. An extra week of summer vacation!
