Oasis Fall Registration Begins This Week

Fall registration for the Oasis Senior Center will begin Wednesday, and staff reports state that new and returning people will be signing up.

“The phones have been ringing off the hook with many questions about the new facility, and staff is ready and excited to see how our new classes will be received,” according to a city memo.

The Oasis Center has been under construction for more than a year and is almost complete. By the end of the month, all furniture should be in place and staff will be trained on building operations, the memo states.

According to a city schedule, staff will move into the building on Sept. 2 and spend Sept. 3 through 17 setting up the center, training staff and volunteers, hosting a tour and barbecue for employees and a donor reception and tour. The center is scheduled for a soft opening on Sept. 20, with a “sampler week” for new contract classes set for Oct. 4-8. The center should be fully operational by Oct. 11, with a Friends of Oasis gala event slated for Nov. 12.
