The Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission will consider a donation of a bench for Big Corona State Beach at its regular meeting tonight.

The bench is worth more than $1,000, which means it qualifies for a dedication plaque according to city policies, according to a staff report. The plaque would be in memory of Rosina (May) McRorie, who died in May.

Commissioners also will consider a request from Newport Harbor Baseball Association and the Newport Beach Bat Rays to Install an electronic scoreboard at Eastbluff Park Baseball Field, as well as whether to approve temporary lights for the Newport Mesa Soccer Club at Bonita Canyon Sports Park field #5 from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, 2010 and Jan. 10 to March 10, 2011 from dusk to 7:45 p.m. on weekdays.

The group also will consider an application to designate the Rawlins Solar House on Balboa Island as a Major Historic Landmark.
