Two Rants, Wrapped Up As One

Today, I had a nice white shirt splattered with a lot of black coffee.

This seems to happen only when I am wearing new white tees, by the way. As my friend Carol says, “It’s as if the coffee knows.”

Often the coffee splatters because I’m clumsy, or the cup leaks. But today, the cause of the splatter is part two of the rant:

The difference in height between the sidewalk and the curbside grass in the 500 block of Goldenrod Avenue.

As I stepped off the sidewalk to reach my car, my shoe sunk into the grass. Visually, it doesn’t seem like there is going to be any drop off. But there is. I stepped off the sidewalk, nearly tripped, and as I caught myself, the coffee splashed.

I had never noticed this before, so maybe it isn’t widespread. Tell me, have you noticed this?
