Recently, I was at John Wayne airport to catch a flight to the Midwest to see my parents. I was there in plenty of time to take in the wall near my flight’s gate, where they have added murals with text describing the airport construction and how bright and great the future will be along with artwork of people scenes.
On one section of mural, they advertise the wonderful concessions and kiosks that are in store for us — and they include artwork showing a vibrant, bustling terminal with many people, clearly traveling for business and pleasure. They even included this not-so-happy duo.
Check out the guy on the right! Doesn’t he look so mad and annoyed? He seems very put off that he’s in Orange County. Like he’s going to go chop off a few heads or something.
I don’t think we need a mural where everyone depicted looks happy or lobotomized.
But really, do we need to show people who look downright hostile?
