This is a bad idea. Allowing dogs on the public beach at all is a danger to the public and a liability to the City. Unfortunately there are a few uncooperative dog owners, and owners of dangerous dogs who continue to flaunt leash laws and sadly ruin it for the rest. Other cities have provided residents with "Dog Beaches" where dogs are allowed under controlled circumstances, and where the public is aware they may encounter dogs on or off a leash and can take steps to mitigate their exposure. But the last thing we need is for somebody from out of town to bring their Pit Bull to Big Corona and having some kid get mauled. I know, I know, now I will be called a "Pit Bull hater." LOL

I love dogs. And there are only about a handful of them that should be allowed out in public. But without the manpower to police the beaches, I don't see that there is any kind of practical solution. It's like smoking on the beach. It's illegal, but there's no way to really clamp down and put a stop to the violation.
