Port Street Kids

Not to be mean, but the biggest difference I see in CdM kids and Port Streets kids is that CdM kids don’t just stand around in the middle of the street when a car is driving their way.

I’ve been spending several days a week over in the Port Streets, and the kids there play Frisbee in the street, ball in the street — parents clearly encourage this by having basketball hoop after basketball hoop in the driveway facing toward the street. Today, a group of kids stood talking to one another in the middle of the street, looking at me in my car as if I were doing something strange, like riding a horse their way, or levitating.

CdM kids do a lot of really dumb stuff, but playing in traffic doesn’t seem to be a problem.
