Senior citizens have many services available to them — but how does one figure out all the agencies and what they can do to help?

Newport Beach City Councilwoman Leslie Daigle is hosting a Senior Forum, sponsored by the City of Newport Beach and Cal Optima, that will help senior citizens navigate the various county, state and federal services available to them. The free workshop will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday May 17 at the Friends Meeting Room at the Central Library at 1000 Avocado Ave.

“I’ve met smart and resourceful seniors who’ve felt helpless and frustrated by the maze of programs offered by social service providers,” Daigle said. “We’re going to put some squeak on the wheel and help our seniors connect with county and federal agencies.”

The forum is open to seniors, friends and family members who need information or help. Representatives from the County of Orange, Social Security Administration, Medicare, Medi-Cal and others will make presentations, and they will answer questions and provide information packets. Refreshments also will be served.
