1. The Newport Beach Central Library will hold a free family concert at 11 a.m. Saturday. “Makinto: The International School Bus” features Makinto, an international recording artist who is fluent in five languages. The concert will include a sing-along with music from around the world and is aimed at children 5 years and older. (Adults must accompany kids.) 2. The Little Woman — Corona del Mar’s newest hotspot for lunch — is now open on weekends through the summer. This offshoot of The Quiet Woman serves upscale takeout versions of your favorite sandwiches (grown up grilled cheese!), fries and other sides along with delicious entree salads from a tiny little spot at 3238 East Coast Highway. 3. Have a question for your mayor? Newport Beach Mayor Keith Curry will be holding his monthly “Meet the Mayor” event from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mariners Branch Library at 1300 Irvine Ave. Residents will have a chance to meet with him one-on-one and ask questions; for a complete schedule, click here and select Meet the Mayor from the left-hand column. The mayor will be at the Corona del Mar library branch in July.
4. Crystal Cove State Park is holding four events this weekend. At 9 a.m. Saturday, you can take a wildflower hike (meet at the El Moro Visitors Center at the School-State Park stoplight), and at 11 a.m., you can take a tidepool walk (meet at the Pelican Point Lot #2). From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can check out the plein air artist demonstration at Cottage #46 in the Historic District. And at 5 p.m. Sunday, join the Nature Photograph Walk (meet at the Reef Point parking lot.) All events are free, but there is a $15 day-use parking fee. 5. Roger’s Gardens has two events this weekend for gardeners. At 9 a.m. Saturday, award-winning photojournalist and author Debra Lee Baldwin will give a free lecture called “Succulent Container Gardening” that will explain how experts enhance pots and gardens with fleshy-leaved plans. On Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., nursery manager Rex Yarwood will teach a Succulent Container Workshop that will show how to combine succulents to make amazing arrangements. Attendees will design and build a container or basket, so advance registration and a fee is required to cover plants and materials. Call (949) 640-5800 for details.
