More than 13,000 runners will cruise through Corona del Mar as part of the Sixth Annual O.C. Marathon this Sunday, and preparations are already underway to let local residents know about road closures and parking restrictions.

The race is set to begin at 6:30 a.m. near Fashion Island, following a route that will turn from Newport Center Drive onto East Coast Highway, then to Narcissus Avenue, Ocean Boulevard, Seaview Lane, Marguerite Avenue and Bayside Drive. Runners will then head to Back Bay Drive and toward Costa Mesa, where the finish line will be at the OC Fair and Event Center. (Get the complete street-by-street route here.)

In Corona del Mar and other areas along the race course, parking will be restricted beginning at 10 p.m. Saturday until after the race clears on Sunday. Some streets will be closed, as well as the Balboa Island Bridge. (Click here for information about street closures and parking options.) Residents in areas where streets will be blocked are asked to move their cars north of East Coast Highway on Saturday night. Free parking will be available from Saturday night until Sunday morning at the Big Corona State Beach as well as in business lots, including Five Crowns, Sherman Library & Gardens and the lots behind 3800 and 3810 East Coast Highway.

Orange County Transportation Authority bus routes also will be affected by the race and road closures; get the details here.

Corona Del Mar residents will be able to watch runners as they head south through the village and turn south onto Narcissus Avenue and follow the course toward Bayside Drive. For complete spectator information, click here.
