1. The Newport Harbor Lawn Bowling Club is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1550 Crown Drive. If you’ve always wondered about lawn bowling, here’s your chance to find out more about the sport and this Corona del Mar club. Families as well as groups and individuals are invited. 2. Stock up on reading material at the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale on Saturday. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can get a bag of book for $1 as part of the “buck a bag” special. The sale will take place in the Friends Room of the Central Library at 1000 Avocado Ave. (If you’re a member of the Friends of the Library group, a pre-sale event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday.) Proceeds from the sale will help fund library programs including Family Story times. For more information call (949) 759-9667.

3. Head to Crystal Cove State Park on Saturday for a 10 a.m. Historic District hike; meet at the Los Trancos trailer. Or check out a plein air artist demonstration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cottage #46 in the Historic District; park in the Los Trancos lot. Events are free, but there is a $15 day-use parking fee. 4. Check out the new exhibit, “15 Minutes Of Fame: Portraits From Ansel Adams To Andy Warhol,” at the Orange County Museum of Art. The show opened this week and will run through Sept. 19, showcasing more than 175 works, mostly photographs from the museum’s collection, many display for the first time. The museum is located at 850 San Clemente Dr. The museum will be open until 5 p.m. today, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. 5. Today is the boys volleyball “Battle of the Bay” as Corona del Mar High School’s teams head to Newport Harbor for three games beginning at 4:30 p.m. and ending with the varsity gave at 6:30 p.m. The games will be in the gym at the school at 600 Irvine Ave.
