If you ask your friends what they’re going to do today, chances are they’ll say something along the lines of, “Washing my hands.” They’ve already stocked up hand sanitizer, which has long sold out at Rite Aid on East Coast Highway and was getting low on the shelves at Albertsons. And face masks to keep flu germs away? Forget about it….you’ll find empty shelves.

Public health officials have reported 109 cases (one death) with 14 in California and none in Orange County.

Schools have asked parents to keep children home if they show any flu symptoms, although those symptoms probably aren’t related to Swine flu. At Harbor View, the school nurse is checking on all absent kids to make sure they haven’t had Swine flu symptoms. Although several students have been absent this week, it hasn’t been an unusual number.
