2. Corona del Mar High School Theater will stage “The Wiz” tonight and tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Newport Harbor High School Loats Performing Arts Center at 600 Irvine Ave. (There also will be performances May 7 and 8.) Tickets cost $10 to $17 and are available at door or here.

3. Head to Crystal Cove State Park, where guides will lead wildflower hikes at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday; meet at the El Moro Visitor Center at the School/State Park stoplight. You also can check out a plein air artist demonstration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Cottage #46 in the Historic District; park in the Los Trancos lot. 4. Roger’s Gardens is hosting “Gardening Naturally” at 9 a.m. Saturday, with this week’s program involving a field trip to a local garden or two. The goal of the program is to help gardeners use fewer resources as they work in balance with nature. This week, meet at the nursery at 9 a.m. and then carpool to a few local gardens to see first-hand the natural gardening principals. At 9 a.m. Sunday, head to Roger’s to meet author Pat Welsh, who will sign copies of “Pat Welsh’s Southern California Organic Gardening Month-by-Month,” now fully revised and in its 20th year in print. Roger’s is located at 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road.

5. Fashion Island’s Traditional Jewelers is hosting a Jude Frances trunk show and personal appearance on Saturday. Jude Steele, co-founder of JudeFrances and a Southern California native, will meet customers from 2 to 7 p.m., and a percentage of sales from the day will benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Orange County, an organization that helps abused and neglected children. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be provided from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call (949) 721-9010.
