In a race that appeared theirs to lose, Corona del Mar High School students placed second behind Huntington Beach in an online contest with a $25,000 prize.
The Hurley Walk the Walk Contest presents online challenges to high school students, who make short videos that are posted on the Hurley clothing website. Corona del Mar High School won the first challenge, and the school’s video held a lead earlier this week. But when the vote ended on Tuesday, Huntington Beach had a total of 13,555 votes to CdM’s 11,409 votes. The videos show high school students hanging out, painting, surfing, eating tacos and of course, promoting Hurley board shorts and the Hurley logo.
The next challenge will begin April 7, according to the Hurley website. After the three video challenges, the winners will compete at the U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach for the $25,000 prize.
