A U.S. Marines mechanic was arrested on suspicion of aiming a laser at an aircraft at 2:48 a.m. Sunday, a police report states.
The man, 19, is from New York but based in Twentynine Palms. He was arrested in the 1600 block of Marguerite Avenue, according to the report. His bail was set at $20,000. No further details were immediately available.
In other police news, someone stole $5,100 in property from a local doctor’s office. According to the report, someone entered the office at 359 San Miguel Drive sometime between 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. Thursday, taking a credit card machine and a cholesterol machine. The burglary was reported at 9:08 a.m. Friday.
Police also arrested a 21-year-old Laguna Beach man on suspicion of burglary at 12:46 a.m. Saturday. The man was arrested on Gondoliers Bluff in Newport Coast; his bail was set at $50,000. Police did not immediately respond to questions about the burglary and the arrest.
At 2:50 a.m. Saturday, police arrested a 36-year-old Riverside man on suspicion of excessive speed at Ocean Boulevard and Jasmine Avenue, along with a warrant. His bail was set at $1,500.
A 35-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Goldenrod Avenue for driving with a suspended license, along with warrants. His bail was set at $500.
Police also made several alcohol-related arrests. At 11:23 p.m. Saturday, a 38-year-old Corona del Mar resident was arrested on suspicion of DUI at East Coast Highway and Begonia Avenue; bail was set at $2,500. Police arrested a 32-year-old Upland man at 12:35 a.m. Saturday at Newport Coast Drive and Pelican Hill Road on suspicion of disorderly conduct; his bail was set at $500. A 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 11:53 p.m. Friday at East Coast Highway and Dahlia Avenue; her bail was set at $2,500. And a 65-year-old Corona del Mar man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 9:21 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Iris; his bail also was set at $2,500.
